2015: Out on a limb in our own backyard
God is full of surprises. This year He has clearly led us to step out in faith and build a playground on the vacant lot next to the mission house. The lot is ours, but we had no plans to build on it. But in March the Lord directed us to create a safe place to bring the children who are living in the city garbage dump. We will bring them to our mission for Bible lessons, reading lessons, lunch and playtime. We have begun clearing the lot and planning for a wall around the property for safety. Please pray that the funds will come in for us to make this a reality. Nearly 200 children live in makeshift huts in the filthy conditions of the landfill. Another 300 children live in a very poor neighborhood behind the dump. That is a total of 500 children we wish to help!! Please see our "Get Involved" page and click on the "Donate" button to make a credit/debit card donation to this project. You Do Not need a PayPal account in order to donate online (underneath PayPal option, just click on the line saying "Do not have a PayPal account" for a simple credit card payment). We also have an option for a monthly recurring gift by credit card. Thank you for caring about those who feel they have no hope, and for helping them toward a brighter future. God bless you with His love and peace!

We are so thankful to the Lord for giving us direction, and for providing the funds and the resources necessary. On April 25 we completed the final cement pour, and we now have a roof!. Check out the Home page for more photos of the roof construction. Thank you so much for your prayers, encouragement and financial support!

September 2013: Please join us in prayer for the mission house roof
Construction on Para Vida mission house will begin again this fall. Please pray that funds will be donated to complete the first floor. We need to purchase kitchen appliances and cabinets, interior doors, furniture, curtains, etc. We are also trusting God for the funds to pour a concrete roof on the second floor this winter. The second floor is very important because our family and other mission workers can live upstairs so that all 3 bedrooms downstairs are available for the women and children.
Please check out our "Get Involved" page to see how you can help. We have a new option for a monthly recurring gift by credit card. You do not need a PayPal account to donate electronically.

Life of Promise celebrates one-year anniversary of
groundbreaking on Para Vida mission house!
This week we celebrated the one-year anniversary of the birth of our mission house. On March 30, 2011 we broke ground for Para Vida house, and God's plan to rescue women and children from life-threatening crisis situations began to take shape.
We are now so close to finishing the first floor of the house, which means we will be able to open our doors to pregnant women in great need who have no means of support or medical care. We can also provide a safe haven for their children, who are often suffering from disease, malnutrition and inadequate medical care.
Would you please consider making a donation to help us open our doors? Gifts of any amount are greatly appreciated. The "Donate" button found on our "Get Involved" page is an easy way to make a gift. You do not need a Paypal account to donate in this way. Thank you!!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!
We wish to thank all of you who have helped us get to this point in the mission house construction. Jesus said, "Whatever you do for the least of these, you do for me." We have found what the world calls "the least of these," and they are so precious to Jesus. Thank you for being by our sides through prayer and support as we seek to show them the love of Christ.

Mission house construction update: February 2012
We thank the Lord for enabling Life of Promise Ministries to continue slow but steady progress on the first floor of the mission house in Zacapa. Two coats of stucco were applied to the interior and exterior walls beginning in October. The stucco was completed earlier this month, and we are hoping to complete an enclosure for the stairwell to prevent intruders from entering the house through the roof. We are very thankful that the Lord has provided a way for us to complete these elements of the Para Vida (meaning “For Life” in Spanish) mission house.
Once sufficient support is raised, we plan to have the first floor completed and ready to house women and children later this year. We have received news of so many women and their children who are in desperate situations and in need of temporary housing. Some need to be living near the hospital during high-risk pregnancies. Others need alternatives to abortion in cases where they currently have no hope of a decent life for themselves and their children.
We are asking you to join us in prayer for the needs of the mission so that Life of Promise Ministries can open its doors and begin ministering to the people. The first floor of the mission will be able to house 6 to 8 women, 10 children, and 2 ministry workers. Here is a list of projects and materials necessary to complete the first floor: cement floor with ceramic tile; primer and paint for walls and ceilings; three metal security doors; one garage door and seven wooden interior doors; twelve windows with steel security bars; electrical outlets, fixtures, lights and ceiling fans; tile, toilets, shower fixtures and sinks for 3 bathrooms; kitchen appliances and cabinets.
We really appreciate your prayers, encouragement and support. God bless all of you and your families.

Construction Update: October 25, 2011
October 25, 2011: Cement block walls are complete for the first floor of the Para Vida mission house. The concrete roof has been poured. The next step is to protect the cement block walls inside and out with a coat of stucco. This is a very labor-intensive process. We are looking to raise $5,000 in the month of November to cover the cost of the stucco and the labor. Please consider joining us in one of two ways:
1. Make a commitment to pray during the month of November for the funds needed to complete the Para Vida mission house and have it ready to serve the life-sustaining needs of women and children in 2012.
2. Make a donation to our building fund by writing a check to Life of Promise Ministries. Monthly and one-time donations are greatly appreciated. Our address can be found on the contact page of this website.*

The mission house takes shape!
August 7, 2011 -- Thank the Lord for the progress He has made possible on the Para Vida mission house! The photo on the right was taken in mid-July when supporting beams and planks were being placed in preparation for pouring the concrete roof. On July 20, the roof was poured in order to protect the structure from torrential rains that fall in Guatemala during the summer and fall months. The photos below show the concrete roof just a few days after it was poured. Please pray for funds to come in so that the first floor can be completed and ready to house women and children in great need.
First Signs of Life!
Groundbreaking for the mission house was on March 30, 2011. This photo shows the progress made on the first floor as of May 25. This 3-bedroom home will be able to accommodate as many as 8 women, 10 children and 2 ministry workers. It is located one-half mile from a hospital in the city of Zacapa, Guatemala.

Para Vida (meaning "For Life" in Spanish) will be the name of our mission house. Upon completion of this home, women and children will have a safe haven where they will experience God's love through the ministry workers who will care for them.
